the LAN party

Doug’s LAN party was a huge success and we had a blast! There will, no doubt, be some pictures available somewhere at some point. Char and I spent most of Sunday driving to/from Pt Huron to pick Clare up and bring her back. Now I just have to go home this evening and put all my crap back together.

Nothing much else to report. This weekend is the annual Char & Brad party. Get yer party hats on, ya’ll! Oh, right… there’s now a Geeks List hosted here. Send me mail if you want to be included in the noise or go to https://mailgw.funkcoaster.com/dada to sign your damned self up (it’s called ‘TheLIST’ if you’re too slow to figure that out). Don’t ask for web-based forums… ain’t gonna happen, but there is an rss feed for it.

Top O Tha Morn!

Howdy hello there. Just checking in before heading over to a Lan
party in Muskrat. It’s been a pretty uneventful couple of
weeks. About the only excitement was opening a bottle of ~5 year
old Old Peculiar last week to prove to Char that the older it gets the
better it gets. It was WONDERFUL. It’s probably the closest
to cream soda that beer gets… very very nice.

Want some thing to listen to? OK… here… this is what my ears have been on this week:

Liquid Soul - Evolution

Michael Franti & Spearhead - Stay Human

Bossacucanova - Uma batida diferente

The Roots - The Tipping Point

Bob Schneider - Lonelyland

Hope everything is well for you all. We’re off to PARTY! l8r!!!

Been a bit…

Last week, Dokey and I went to seeat our favourite neighbourhood hangout, Billy’s Lounge. It was a SICK show. We were fortunate enough to talk to the guys in the band and get some too.

The Annual Char & Brad Party has been announced. If you’re usually on “the list” and don’t have your invitation, get it here. Hope to see all you groovy folks there for some general mayhem. :)

To all those folks in Ohio, I have a for you. By the way, the dude to the right of me is a purebread Repulican. He’s a good guy, though. I don’t hold it against him and he doesn’t hold it against me that I’m a peace-loving hippy. I think there might be a lesson here and I think it might be “alcohol brings everyone together”.

Doing my part to screw up America

Well… I went and did the voting thing at 7am this morning. There was quite a line. I waited for just over an hour to cast my vote against the current regime. According the spinmeisters at CNN, though, those of us who oppose the current warmongering, bigotted, lying assholes who currently run this country are a minority. If the current regime retains power because the American people decide it that way, it will prove my longstanding opinion that the majority of Americans are self-absorbed idiots with no consideration for anyone but themselves. But I’m not bitter… no… not me. Ask me again when I’m out of work in eight months. I’m sure I’ll be in a waaaaay better mood.

In case you can’t tell, I’m in a real “unicorns and rainbows” mood today. After being told at work that we’re going to get the “royal” (as in screwing) treatment with the current “insourcing” initiative, I found out that the majority of Americans are OK with writing bigotry and hatred into the very basis of the law of the land… their state constitutions. I’m just waiting for “unless you’re Republican, you can’t vote” initiatives in all the states next. This doesn’t even go anywhere near the frustration I feel at the prospect of having to put another four years of my family’s wellbeing at stake by having Bush and his moneygrubbing warmongering buddies at the helm of this sinking ship.
