If you’ve been returning here regulary, you’re aware that staggercat.com is being transformed into an art site, complete with what has become my writing journal along side missives from a whole plethora of friends and well-wishers. Well… actually, it’s just Matt at this point (and he hasn’t written anything yet). I’m trying to get more interest in it, because I think it could be cool. We know a lot of really talented folks and it’s my belief that they all could contribute something meaningful to the discussions there.
It’s my goal to avoid writing about politics on the staggercat.com website; only because there are a million other places on the web where you can read “one man’s opinion” regarding just about any political subject you can think of. I don’t need to participate in that discussion, because honestly, there isn’t much I can contribute at this point. I don’t believe in the current administration, I loathe most everything that they stand for, and there’s nothing I can do about it (I voted… for the other guy, if you can’t guess). Once the time comes again to vote, you will probably hear something from me, but it will most likely be on my personal blog, not on staggercat.com. For now, I’ve mostly given up even watching the news, because it just pisses me off.
I need a writing journal. There is constantly a stream of thoughts and feelings rolling around in my head that should somehow be comitted to something more permanent than my failing memory. The problem with this is that I’m lazy, as can be witnessed here. On average, I think I update this space about every 15-20 days, which is certainly not a shining example of a blog. It’s not that I don’t have enough blather to fill a log entry a day, it’s that other things jump out at me as priorities (ooo… shiny).
One thing I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time doing lately is organizing the digital music library. There are currently approximately 1300 lossless (that means “exact CD copies”… not MP3) albums on the hard drive. There is plenty of software on the market that will attempt to help you organize and present a large music collection, but in order to do so, it has to be pretty consistently organized. Ours wasn’t. Until now. I have 95%+ of all the cover art downloaded, all naming straight (lastname first, etc) and now it’s cataloged in the library server, which let’s me stream to any other computer in the house. I’ve found a piece of software that will allow me to convert to MP3 so that we can burn MP3 CD’s for the car and fill up our Minidisc players easily.
If that didn’t bore you, congratulations, you’re a geek. If you’re still reading and didn’t understand that last paragraph, it’s ok. Thanks for making the effort to not fall asleep.
take it easy ya’ll.
