new eastowners site.

Hey all. I’ve been working on a new and improved eastowners site. I still have some content and some tweaking to finish, but the major features are up and installed (including a new version of Gallery). The pictures aren’t moved over yet, but that will be coming soon. Here’s the link in case you want to see it. Thank Char for the purple!

Purple is the new anti-blue.

…and now a word from our sponsor

Hear the dogs howling out of key

To a hymn called Faith and Misery

And bleed, the company who lost the war today

That is all.

sunday-sunday-sunday

So… Taco Bell. Yes, once again, we spent a Sunday night eating refrieds and cheese wrapped in varying degrees of tortilla. This is mostly due the fact that we have no food in the house and got back from spending a weekend at the parental units’. The good news (in case you’re wondering), is that I finally, after approximately two years, have my VW back! It runs and made the trek back to GR without a hitch.

I believe it possible that there always was something wrong with the transmission on that car… it seems to have a lot more power now. The shift pattern is also different, which I’m not sure is normal. I got pretty good gas mileage on the way up, so I don’t think it’s a problem… it just seems a little weird to be at 3000 RPM on city streets and not have it shift… seems to not shift into third until I get up to about 35mph… fourth isn’t seen until I get to about 50-60mph. I like the added power of the delayed shift, and the revs aren’t high (about 3500-4000 when it shifts), so I’m not too worried about it. It’s just shifting later than it used to.

Anyway… next course of action is to get the rust and wrinkles out of it. That’ll be another trip during warmer weather. At some point, I’ll take some pictures of the “before” so that “after” I have something to compare to. Almost two years of sitting still has had it’s tole on that little multi-colored Golf.

Everything else is pretty well here in the GR… there are some videos taken with the new camera of Clare playing the harmonica. Check ‘em out if you get a chance.

Off to the salt mines…

happy fryday

evenin’ ya’ll…

There hasn’t been much going on around here. I’ve been pretty busy with work and haven’t had much time to write blog entries or anything else for that matter. I wrote up a couple of cd reviews and posted them to a mailing list I’m on. They will probably make their way onto the staggercat.com website sooner or later. Again… haven’t had a lot of time to focus on working on that either. Lack of time and lack of interest from other has kind of delayed it a bit. It’s not a whole lot of fun to be the only person posting stuff…

Anyway… Things in Grand Rapids are ok. We finally bought a digital camera to replace the one that broke in August. Expect that new pictures will make their way to the site soon. We’ve just been taking snapshots around the house (of the dog and Clare mostly). It’s been more than a few months since we’ve been able to chronicle our lives. Hopefully, we haven’t lost any of you good folks who use this site as a vector into our world (sickos). :)

Well… it’s time for me to get back to my music listening and attempting to write something. I’ve been working on a piece since last year (for Char) that I hope breaks my several years of virtual writer’s block. I’m starting to feel more creative… sometimes it just takes a little time to come back. I’m really excited about where the world is headed right now. In six months, who knows? But for right now, I feel important again professionally, and there’s a lot to be said for that, even if I’m skeptical of it. Self-confidence is self-reflecting, but only in so much as the people you work for are willing to reflect. It’s impossible to maintain self-confidence in the type of environment I was in before and it’s not a wonder why my self-confidence in all areas of my life was at an all-time low. I’m building back up. It’s not going to take long. Failure is not an option.

Life is good and if the gods are smiling, bonuses will be in abundance this year. We can always cross our fingers, eh?

Peace and hair grease ya muthas.
