I think you have a great point (though “Puff the Magic Dragon” -does- creep me out a little). “Afternoon Delight” is another one (though I don’t think it’s all -that- veiled).

To be honest with you, I don’t want to engage in a religious argument. I -was- creeped because the veiled message was one of values that I don’t hold. I guess that’s really the end of it. I was irritated at the fact that the band seemed to be delighting in it (my interpretation of an e-mail, so I reserve the right to be wrong).

And you’re right… you can probably find many examples of heavily veiled messages regarding values that you don’t hold in modern music. And maybe they are values I do hold. Would there be anything off putting at all about supporting such an artist for you?

If not, perhaps you’re a bigger man than I am…

Just for the record… I never said the message was bad for anyone but me. It’s a personal thing, a rant, and I’m not trying to convince anyone to believe what I believe. I am, after all, -very- comfortable being me.
