Well… Al Green was AWESOME. I think we scored some of the best seats in the house. Holly even got a long stem red rose from the man himself. It was a great night of great old school soul.
Getting to that point was another thing entirely. We forgot the tickets. I called the State Theatre box office and they said it was no problem, they could reprint them. Whew… so we didn’t have to return to GR to get the tickets, which would have made us almost miss the show. The folks at the State are awesome and deserve huge kudos for dealing with our lack of attention.
It was raining, construction held us up. We didn’t get into KZoo until about 6:45. which only gave us an hour to eat (Food Dance, yeah!), get over to the State (in the rain with no umbrellas), get our tickets reprinted, and get seated. We made it… just barely. Char got a major blister on her foot from walking over to the State. There were a number of rude people at the show and a lot of drama from people who spent $70 each for tickets and ended up with people from the back in front of them dancing. It didn’t bother me much, but some other folks were quite irritated.
After the show, we went over to Kraftbrau for some beers. Char and I had their Blackberry Pilsner, which was EXCELLENT (I have a weakness for fruit beers). A band called “Oh My God” was playing there and they weren’t half bad to listen to (neither of us were anywhere near drunk). After the beers, we went over to Water Street for a nightcap of coffee and dessert, then headed home. Needless to say, the end of the evening was MUCH more enjoyable than the beginning.
Last night was good. We were joined at Casa del Dokey by Senor Mateo and had a whooping good time eating spaghetti and drinking zeus-knows-what. I feel fine this morning, so it must not have been too bad. Now it’s off to pick up the Clarester from her grandparents’. Cya ya’ll l8r.
